Following completion of her medical degree, Bettina started her professional life as a medical registrar and clinician, lecturer and researcher in clinical pharmacology at Groote Schuur Hospital. Passionate about the enablement of broad access to high quality healthcare services, she subsequently joined the healthcare financing industry where she led drug and health technology assessments and health policy for Medscheme for many years, and engaged at industry level in healthcare financing reform.
In 2017, she joined EthiQal following launch of their professional indemnity cover. As clinical risk management lead, she is focused on understanding medico-legal risks and enabling risk management solutions that protect doctors and their patients. Being married to a neurosurgeon in both private and academic practice, she has always remained close to the day-to-day challenges faced by practitioners.
When not problem-solving, Bettina loves to clear her mind training in the pool, swimming in the Cape’s icy oceans with family and friends and running on the mountain with her Vizsla.
