It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 South Africa Orthopaedic Association Congress. We are returning to Cape Town and Century City which has been a great venue to host our Congress. After an exceptional turnout at the 2025 event in Pretoria, we are looking forward to hosting another successful Congress.
The South Africa African Orthopaedic Association Congress offers you the opportunity to connect with colleagues and be exposed to world renowned experts in all disciplines. This year is no exception, with an illustrious international faculty as you can see in the enclosed document. We are thankful that Dr Mari Thiart has agreed to serve as Congress Chair again and to use her vast experience to help us develop a programme that suits most of your needs. You will notice that every day has sufficient access to ethics and also offers those with varied interests, sufficient opportunity to attend sessions that they like.
We are particularly pleased that Professor Len Marais will deliver the F P Fouche lecture. Professor Bennie Lindeque has agreed to deliver the G T du Toit lecture as an established international authority who still knew Dr du Toit personally.
We are also pleased to announce that Prof Fergal Monsell will give the JJ Craig lecture and the Congress opening will be done by Mr Theo Vorster, a well-known national speaker on all things economic and practical.
2026 has been a year of tumultuous international politics and threats on the economic front. It is also a year with several sub speciality congresses running as well. Kindly review the attached Congress program to make sure you don’t miss out on crucial exposure in the field of Orthopaedics, that interest you the most.
